SXSW 2000: Too Much For One Web Site
Austin, Texas
PART I: Absolute Favorite Things of SXSW2000:
- Keyboard player for the Forty-Fives of Atlanta
- Wednesday night: Polvos, Stubb's, P2 lovefest, and Puddy from "Seinfeld."
- Thursday night lineup at the Scottish Rite Temple (Wammo, Hamell on Trial, Asylum Street Spankers)
- Tree cutting party crasher at Cherilyn's 5th Annual P2 SXSW BBQ
- Hollisters at Under the Sun
- Whiskeytown at the Austin Music Hall
(yes, finally, they were great live!)
- Waco Brothers at Yard Dog (always)
- Road Kings from Houston
- Kim Richey, backed by the Continental Drifters
- Chocolate cheesecake by Michael Hurd
- Gifts from Coven members and wannabes staying at my house (queen soap, goddess t-shirt, CDs, beer....)
- Laura Fowler Dear and Slim Kelly back in Austin
- $4 Jim Beam and Cola drinks at Waterloo Park (convenience and trash all in one)
- Talking, talking, talking, talking, talking
- Joe Gracey hologram at the Kimmie Rhodes performance at the Continental. It was soooo lifelike!
- Fighting with Lonesome Bob at Guero's about women college basketball
- Being in bed with Don/George-Not-So-Strait, Debra and Marie (can't wait for the photos)
- Tift Merritt and the Carbines, followed by the Ex Husbands, at Opal Divine's on Saturday night
And the BEST part of SXSW2000:
PART II: SXSW2000 Hall of Shame:
- The crummy folks working the door at the Mercury Lounge on Saturday night, who did not tell those waiting in the long line that it was a badges-only show, until they'd waited 30 - 45 minutes.
- S'Up Boys at the Austin Music Hall (anywhere, actually)
- Crummy staff at the Austin Music Hall (guys, stop treating audience members like the enemy)
- Those who talked on cell phones during shows
- Rain on Thursday
- Jerry Curry
Photos are elsewhere
