What did you dislike about your other volunteer experiences?
  1. The only dislike that I had about my other volunteer experiences was that I was unable to do more volunteer work, and was unable to acquire transportation. Therefore, I feel virtual volunteering will help me get around this.

  2. I volunteered for the Red Cross, but they never did anything and that was annoying.

  36. I disliked nothing.

  37. Sometimes being taken for granted.

  38. Other people's agendas - the reasons why they were volunteering in the first place.

  39. DID NOT ANSWER

  40. I have not had a bad experience volunteering. I know I have been fortunate that our parent's with the team sports have been supportive. The other work I did was on my own time, so I didn't have much interaction with the others involved.

  41. DID NOT ANSWER

  42. The lack of clear goals, desired outcomes, mission statements.

  43. If it is unorganized then I do have problems with that.

  44. You were outside.

  46. Alot of people were blatantly ungrateful.

  47. I hated the fact I had to quit the SADD chapter because school work was starting to get neglected.

  48. I found the Wellness Center opportunity restrictive and boring--taking blood pressures with only minimal time to listen to peoples' problems and offer some advice or recommendations. The others I liked very much. In fact, they are some of the proudest and most enjoyable moments of my life.

  49. I disliked some of the politics. More than once we had to deal with someone who wasn't in the trenches so to speak, but they had the "book knowledge" of the topic. When they would try to setup things that didn't work..they didn't always accept the fact that the "volunteers" knew more than they did. Thankfully it happened rarely.

  50. its very hard to have to travel half an hour to arrive at the places i volunteer every week.

  60. It has to be all the calls to my house asking me questions, I think that they can e-mail me.

  61. Sometimes it is hard to distance myself from the callers on the phone. I have been in many of their shoes. I feel that virtual volunteering will enable me to continue my passion without getting wrapped up in someone elses turmoil.

  62. no complaints...

  63. Only thing I did not like was once an activity started early in the morning, at 6 am, and I did not want to participate.

  64. Sometimes you really have to keep the big picture on your wall, literally : ) There's times when no matter what you do, a project may not turn out to be as effective as you would have liked. That's why its important for the volunteer to understand the overall goals of the project, and learn what it takes to be consistent and persistent in the presence of the various obstacles that any organization will face. To me, this is how empowerment is learned, and inner strength is nurtured.

  65. nothing

However I see all these incidents as tests of my patience and my persistence in volunteering work, and I don't mind them at all.

  69. The hours for candystriping at one of the hospitals began to overtake my regular schedule. I was in high school and working part-time at the time, and the hospital wanted a minimum of 20 hours per week.

  70. There were really no aspects of volunteering for the services that I disliked. The only drawback now would be that I do not have reliable transportation.

  71. The fact that i have enough time and motivation to do more in that school, but that their requirements are minimal, and no one is really available to find some time to set some long term goal or projects to make the most of their computer equipment.
